On the morning of December 9, 2013, Prof. Mircea Dumitru, Rector of University of Bucharest (UB) in Romania and Romanian Co-Chair of the Board of Advisors of the Confucius Institute at that University, was invited by Prof. Wen Bing, Dean of the School of Humanities at CUPL, to deliver a lecture titled “On Tolerance, Lenience and Cognition Fallibilism”. The lecture was held in B211 of Research Building, on Xueyuan Lu Campus. Dr. Yan Chen, Vice Director of the CUPL Foreign Language Teaching and Research Institution, acted as the simultaneous interpreter for that academic event.

Mircea Dumitru’s speech sparked enthusiastic responses from our students. In the question-raising section, students asked professional questions by taking into consideration of the details of the lecture as well as the definition of “lenience”. Mircea Dumitru responded to questions carefully and conducted in-depth exchanges with the audience. This speech was of great significance for our students to further their understanding about the meaning of lenience and the diversity of world cultures.
